Testimonial - "From the perspective of having been here on the ground in Chile since July, I just want to emphasize just how valuable this network (Telegram chat group)  has been for us. Jim and Lori over the years have done so much of the heavy lifting already in terms of scouting and networking. It can be under-appreciated how much of a soft landing this creates once your plane touches down. All of the cultural nuances and general "unknowns" have either already been answered, or can be answered here almost immediately (good luck getting correct answers on Google 😂). I can't imagine having to do it from scratch like Jim and Lori did over 10 years ago. All that said, show them some love because they deserve it!"  - Daniel C.

Another testimonial from Nick & Deb formerly from NZ

Hi everybody, Nick and Deb here, We have now arrived in Santiago Chile after deciding to move last September After finding Jim's and Lori's group at the time we were deciding where to go. We had been to Argentina and Chile 18 yr ago and loved it. However were not thinking of moving back then. But things change and we decided we needed to find a new adventure and change in our lives for many reasons! we are not young in years retired now. Moving our lives is a huge challenge after living in Australia and NewZealand for the last 40yrs and to be honest we would never have gotten this far without the help and support of this group and the wonderful people ready and willing to help us on the journey. We met with Marcelo and Sebastian who were wonderful helping us get our residency. Because of them we now have all our paper work in hand. Santiago is a huge and has all of the ups and downs of a mega city. We do feel safe of course you keep your wits about you!!. We are now looking for a camper and have spent time with Francesco who is a great mechanic speaks fluent English and is a go to person for mechanical knowledge. We look forward to meeting many more of the family as we travel south.

  1. Hi We are considering a move to Chile or Argentina and are doing some research. Before i sign up for the group I would like to know about childhood vaccinations. I know they are mandatory, but how likely are they to push them on the foreigners? No, we are not interested in putting them in school.

    1. Hi Amber Thanks for the question! Here is a quote from my book regarding vaccinations –

Vaccines are mandatory for children born in Chile, but you can get out of that by signing a waiver. You don’t need a particular reason to sign a waiver like religion or health reasons. And you don’t need to get any vaccinations to move here or work here or go to school here. It is only compulsory for children born here.

The vaccination program is free for everyone, and the recommended vaccine load seems to be a lot lighter than that recommended in the US. My children were enrolled in a school here and we were never asked about any vaccination records though I had brought mine from the US.
